We continue to devote our Wednesday video features to the world of Francophone music throughout this month and have another fabulous clip that has become a victim of excessive repeat plays here at GDW HQ these last few weeks (I’m a sucker for a good piano ballad, what can I say?).
Having closed out 2025 with a clip featuring a duet between Les Trois Accords and Béatrice Martin back on the last Wednesday of the year, how quickly the algorithms decided to drop several fresh cuts from Coeur de Pirate into our feeds.
Following the release of her “Cavale” album last September, Béatrice offered this stunning reinterpretation (dubbed ‘Piano Edit’) of the album cut “Château de sable” just a couple of months later. Another long-time fave here at GDW, and a name recognized internationally, Coeur de Pirate is ‘essential listening’ in our humble opinion. Bet you can’t watch this one just once….

The British guy that crossed the ocean and crash landed in central Pennsylvania (to quote Greg Keelor, “And I wonder what am I doing here?”). As the youngest of four siblings, exposure to music from a very early age nurtured my passion and appreciation for many musical genres. Continuing to discover some amazingly diverse and talented musicians based in Canada, I gravitate to live music experiences and remain devoted to spreading the word about such a vibrant music scene.
