Edmonton alt-country outfit The Denim Daddies are set to release their second EP of 2018. “Thinkin’,” a three song EP that features a deeper side to the band will come out on November 9. However, they’ve kindly shared it so Great Dark Wonder readers can hear it early. (see below)
Finding ways to satisfy the tastes of both purists and newbies of the country genre, The Denim Daddies are burning up 2018 with multiple releases of their outlaw-inspired alt-country. “Thinkin’,” their second EP of the year, will be self-released on Friday November 9. The three-song collection features tracks that were recorded at the same time as their July-released “Drinkin’,” but rather than songs about beer, “Thinkin’” tackles topics such as social change, US politics, and the big wheel that is pop country radio. “Thinkin’” features similar sonic qualities to “Drinkin’,” but has a much more serious tone and feel.
“We’re definitely a band that likes to have fun, but it’s not 100% about that,” says guitarist/vocalist Rudiger Metsin, “There is a deeper side to this band, and I think these songs exemplify it.” (Find out more about this deeper side in the GDW interview, coming next week!)
Be sure to catch The Denim Daddies “Thinkin’” release show on Friday November 9 at The Aviary in Edmonton. For more info and the most up-to-date tour dates, please visit The Denim Daddies’ Bandcamp page. (While you’re there, listen to “Drinkin” as well!)
