What can you tell us about the origins of the venue?
Ratio is a coffee shop & bakery, especially known for our doughnuts. With two main performances areas, we also host shows too! Indoors, an intimate performance space welcomes a capacity of 24 – along with our perfectly prepared treats and drinks! Outdoors, limited to the summers, is a great venue for bands and huge parties. Our licensed patio seats 21, and seating can even be expanded with picnic-style benches in the parking lot for up to 80.
Using “VENUE” as an acronym, what can you tell us about the Vibe, Energy, Nostalgia,Uniqueness and Entertainment at Ratio Coffee & Pastries?
Vibe: Our main Café is smaller and intimate. Our shows are usually the artist and a crowded room listening intently. Great venue for hearing the artist perform a solo or duo show.
Energy: Lots of engagement with artist and the audience as they are really sitting all together. Those who’ve enjoyed our shows have had a great opportunity to meet and get to know the artists.
Nostalgia: We are in a 110 year old train station. So a older space made new again.
Unique: Great character building. Brick, Wood and a train track running next to it. Most shows get a train passing through which adds for fun as well.
Entertainment: Solo or duos. Acoustic and stripped down sets works well.
Are there any upcoming events at Ratio that you would like to promote at this time?
We’ve been booking lots of shows through Side Door recently. We’ve had Erin Costelo play, the Elwins, Noah Derksen and others. We have a sold out Matt Barber show next week!
