Following their successful Christmas Tour last year, Ian Foster and Nancy Hynes have just announced their plans for a second consecutive holiday tour. Eager to share music from their 2018 “A Week In December” Christmas album once more, the folk-duo will tour extensively across Ontario, New Brunswick, and their home province of Newfoundland, performing just under twenty confirmed dates between November 28th and December 21st.
Having successfully performed his solo music to audiences across the globe, Ian Foster teamed up with his longtime partner Nancy Hynes for “A Week In December” last year, their first duo album that was recorded in August 2018 and released just a few months later in time for the festive season. “We usually take a break from touring in December, but sharing this record with people and celebrating the holidays in different towns meant a lot to us,” Ian shares. “We decided to do it again, but a little bigger this time, and look forward to seeing our friends this December.”
Mixing traditional hymns and holiday music with their own festive compositions, both Ian and Nancy are naturally excited to hit the road and interact with their audiences to spread good tidings once again. “We really want to express what our version of the holiday season looks like,” states Nancy. “It’s hard to beat the melodies of some of the oldest Christmas songs.” As for their original pieces, which explore both the nostalgia and fun of the season, “A Week in December” is about coming home for Christmas, while “Old Christmas Day” is a bright sort of one last dance at the end of the season.

The British guy that crossed the ocean and crash landed in central Pennsylvania (to quote Greg Keelor, “And I wonder what am I doing here?”). As the youngest of four siblings, exposure to music from a very early age nurtured my passion and appreciation for many musical genres. Continuing to discover some amazingly diverse and talented musicians based in Canada, I gravitate to live music experiences and remain devoted to spreading the word about such a vibrant music scene.
