Single Release: Dana Sipos, “Soft Feeling”

Dana Sipos - Soft

We are excited to share that Victoria, BC-based singer-songwriter Dana Sipos has returned to the airwaves with new music. Released back in late May, Dana’s single “Soft Feeling” brings the same unique sounds and uplifting beats that we’ve come to appreciate about her.

Sharing the origins of this tune, Dana reveals it is a song written as “a love song for a special group of friends who have being getting together very intentionally for the past year or so and peeling back all the layers of our lifetimes. With the beauty, heartbreak, love, pain, and transformation, we related to each other in these ancient ways of being and tended to our younger selves in the process. I was inspired to celebrate the shape of love we cultivated with what became this song.”

Having a special group of friends of my own, I couldn’t help but think about them while playing “Soft Feeling” a few times over. It really is something beautiful to have friends with whom we can peel back those layers with, as Dana described. I believe we all share many of the same human experiences along the way, growing old together while holding on to the childlike wonder we have in our minds. The people we transform with are often the friends we keep closest to our hearts.

Dana captures the many facets of friendship in her carefully crafted lyrics while celebrating its beauty, all wrapped up in a song. I was particularly struck by the line: “know your light through their eyes, know their eyes through your light.” To me, this impresses on how often we share with others the notion of ‘if only you saw yourself the way I see you,’ and to remain humble as to not lose sight of each other while radiating your own love and light. The playful flute that dances around the soft drums and accompaniments reminds me of that childlike wonder that come our more when I am with these friends.
