Hello December! The delivery truck just left GDW HQ, but not before dropping off a fresh batch of mini movies for our viewing pleasures. We renewed our subscription to keep these frequent deliveries heading our way and intend to keep sharing these audio-visual delights as they arrive. Go ahead and check out three fresh cuts from Canadian artists, plus a bonus domestic clip that we received as an accidental gift (YouTube algorithm strikes again).
Vincent Vallières, “Les saisons, les secondes”
Sherbrooke, QC folk-rocker Vincent Vallières just released his latest album (his second this year if you consider his compilation of singles from back in March), and this official video for the title track demonstrates just why Vincent continues to thrive. Everything here is as perfect as it gets – the acoustic style and direction, the orchestration, the choral harmonies – it’s just absolutely beautiful and deserves to be heard.
Boy Golden (ft. Cat Clyde), “Cowboy Dreams”
Now here is a collaboration that we never saw coming – and based on this tasty sample, talk about whetting our appetites for an entire pie! Boy Golden is an artist in constant flux – his musical releases ever-evolving – and Cat Clyde has proven to be an amazing sidekick when called upon (her works with Jeremie Albino, for example). Magic is happening here, and with news of his next album in progress, we’re eager for more in 2026.
Orville Peck, “Drift Away”
No matter whether you consider this crooner South African, Canadian, or American – when he releases new tunes, everybody should take notice. Orville released (digitally – physical media coming soon) his latest EP “Appaloosa” last month and shared this beautifully filmed clip for “Drift Away.” Boasting some marvelous cinematography – as has become the norm for Peck – this is a clip that you will likely watch more than once.
Meels, “Willow Song”
We ordered a fresh bunch of Canadian music videos, but a mix-up at the warehouse meant that this clip from US artist Meels accidently fell into our basket too. But all is good. As a proud Gen X-er, The Muppets remain one of my earliest childhood memories of popular culture, so this throwback video to Muppet-style puppetry and nostalgic 70s vibes hit a sweet spot. Where else will you find a raccoon playing harmonica today, seriously?
The British guy that crossed the ocean and crash landed in central Pennsylvania (to quote Greg Keelor, “And I wonder what am I doing here?”). As the youngest of four siblings, exposure to music from a very early age nurtured my passion and appreciation for many musical genres. Continuing to discover some amazingly diverse and talented musicians based in Canada, I gravitate to live music experiences and remain devoted to spreading the word about such a vibrant music scene.
