I absolutely MUST send a huge shout-out to good friend and GDW contributor Louise T. for bringing Oakville, ON folk-pop duo YASSiN & Sean Terrio to my attention. If you are unfamiliar with them, I highly recommend seeking out their cover of the popular Radiohead hit, “Creep” as a great introduction (Louise shared a clip over on the GDW YouTube channel).
Already familiar to us, Charissa is a Burlington, ON based Americana-soul artist who we first discovered back in early 2022 around the time of her “People Like You” single release – one produced by Colin Cripps (Blue Rodeo). Making a name around southern Ontario, Charissa has performed frequently with YASSiN & Sean Terrio, and has worked alongside our good pal Tim Allard of The Redhill Valleys – what’s not to like?

All three artists team up – right here, right now – to collaborate on the aptly titled single “Right Here, Right Now.” Believe me, this one is not to be missed – talk about a viable contender for future single of the year discussions. While some collective efforts can feel forced or over-produced, this trio proves that when the right combo finds the right song, magic can truly happen.
But wait, there’s more! Check out the official music video that adds an extra dimension to the song’s message – that “there is nothing in this universe that can stop you from living your dreams.” The duo took to social media recently offering their gratitude to Charissa for helping bring this song to life. “Thank you for trusting us and collaborating with us … your voice is one of the best we’ve ever heard and it’s a privilege for us to have you share this song with us.”

The British guy that crossed the ocean and crash landed in central Pennsylvania (to quote Greg Keelor, “And I wonder what am I doing here?”). As the youngest of four siblings, exposure to music from a very early age nurtured my passion and appreciation for many musical genres. Continuing to discover some amazingly diverse and talented musicians based in Canada, I gravitate to live music experiences and remain devoted to spreading the word about such a vibrant music scene.
