Today, as we welcome the beginning of summer, Megan Nash is premiering her newest lyric video for “Summer,” a song from her album “Seeker,” voted Best Saskatchewan Album of 2017 through SaskMusic. She is also announcing a number of tour dates for this summer, including an appearance at the Gateway Festival in Bengough, SK.
Megan is based out of Southern Saskatchewan, Treaty 4. She is currently nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for Breakout Artist of the Year and in 2016, she was nominated for a WCMA Songwriter of the Year award.
The full band album “Seeker” came about through a collaboration with Bears in Hazenmore and was recorded at Soul Sound Studios in downtown Regina. Nash describes “Seeker” in general as “self-indulgent,” although that can be interpreted in the strictest sense of doing exactly what she wanted to do. She adds that that’s why she’s always been comfortable being known simply as a singer/songwriter, since it allows her the freedom to pursue any musical direction she sees fit. That spirit of adventure is prevalent throughout “Seeker”—the atmospheric “Girl Vs Ocean” and “Summer,” the euphoric “Lavender & Leather” and “Off Sale Gin,” and the brooding “Saturn” and “Vampire”—but tying it all together is how Nash and the group sound as though they’ve been playing together for years rather than months.
Nash has toured internationally, having performed in seven different countries in 2018 alone.
