#TuesdayTunesDay: New Song Roundup, 10 April 2018

TuesdayTunesDay 4/10/2018

Another week brings another Tuesday of new music to which we’re listening – check out these releases.

Jonas Bonnetta, “Fogo”

Over the past few years, Jonas Bonnetta has used the time in between touring and performing as Evening Hymns to record his first full-length ambient album, “All This Here.” The record began as the score to the documentary film Strange And Familiar: Architecture On Fogo Island which follows the story and construction of the Fogo Island Inn and a series of artist studios on the island designed by architect Todd Saunders.

“All This Here” sounds like a record of dawn and dusk, of light that frets at the edge of the day.

The album finds field recordings from the coast of Fogo Island echoing throughout the record, horns which glisten into strings or shimmer apart into the rumble of surf. Forlorn murmurings suggest some alloy of whalesong and cello, while particles of recorded footfalls collide in the vacuum of wind or woodwind and cold, watery piano tones.

Jill Barber, “Girl’s Gotta Do” / “Une femme doit faire”

Words cannot express how much Team GDW has been looking forward to new music from Jill Barber, and so we are thrilled that she finally released a new single last Friday from her upcoming album, “Metaphora.”  Two new singles, in fact… she’s released her new song both in English and in French, and we hope you’ll enjoy both versions of it!

Sc Mira, “Noose”

Winnipeg’s Sc Mira share the new video for their single “Noose,” the second track off their forthcoming EP, Drug Warm Coma, due out April 20th in North America via Sugar Gator Records, and in Europe on Ferryhouse Productions. The album’s first single “Give It Up” premiered on Indie88 this past February. The band is super excited to get back out on the road this spring with the announcement of their upcoming Canadian tour, including stops with their new friends daysormay and Modern Space.
