The final Wednesday of the month also means our final Francophone video feature – so we’re closing out the month with a bang here! Quebec City singer-songwriter Sandrine Hébert is a pretty fresh find here at GDW HQ (yet another graduate of ‘Star Académie’) – and with a solid back catalogue of material, we’re excited to discover much more about this country-rocker with a BIG voice.
“J’t’allergique is a cry from the heart, an invitation to collective awakening, to personal introspection for everyone, to return to our roots, and reconnect with our truth and authenticity. It addresses the feeling of sometimes being out of sync with the rest of the world, of feeling socially drained. Eco-anxiety is also raised in this song: climate change, increasing pollution, and the lack of resources to save our own.” (Artist Website).
Mixing delicately plucked banjo and stadium rock worthy guitar riffs, Sandrine has the vocal range to keep the instruments firmly in check. Is this country, or is this rock? Give it a whirl and draw your own conclusions. Bet you’ll spin it more than once though…

The British guy that crossed the ocean and crash landed in central Pennsylvania (to quote Greg Keelor, “And I wonder what am I doing here?”). As the youngest of four siblings, exposure to music from a very early age nurtured my passion and appreciation for many musical genres. Continuing to discover some amazingly diverse and talented musicians based in Canada, I gravitate to live music experiences and remain devoted to spreading the word about such a vibrant music scene.
