With five – count ‘em – five Wednesdays throughout April, we really must insist on choosing a theme for our video features all month long. April begins with the letter ‘A’ and ends with the letter ‘L’ – so ‘A’ for Alternative and ‘L’ for Loud! Yeah, that works! We’re gonna let loose with some great cuts of the Alternative, Indie, Garage, and Punk variety – with no geographical restrictions. Prepare to push beyond the boundaries of your comfort zone in your pursuit of new music…

Hailing from London, England, SpaceAcre is a hard-hitting indie-rock duo that landed in my social media feeds recently and with a tagline that read: “The gatekeepers don’t want you to find small underground rock bands so if you’re seeing this let’s stick it to em,” very quickly earned my full attention.

Comprised of Phoebe Little (lead vocals/guitars/keys) and Jas Scott (vocals/synths/bass/cello), SpaceAcre exploded onto the UK scene with a potent mix of “soaring riffs, extraordinary vocals and astute songwriting on themes of corruption, injustice and greed. While maintaining their fierce DIY ethos, they have established a significant online following within a few short years” (Artist Website).

The British guy that crossed the ocean and crash landed in central Pennsylvania (to quote Greg Keelor, “And I wonder what am I doing here?”). As the youngest of four siblings, exposure to music from a very early age nurtured my passion and appreciation for many musical genres. Continuing to discover some amazingly diverse and talented musicians based in Canada, I gravitate to live music experiences and remain devoted to spreading the word about such a vibrant music scene.
