What can you tell us about the origins of the Revival Music Room?
Enter the Revival Music Room – a room (physically) renovated and built by local musicians and designed to optimize the live music experience for everyone who walks through the doors. Maintaining the popular party atmosphere of former venue McNally’s Tavern, the format of the Revival Music Room has been created with all music lovers in mind. Featuring earlier show times, targeted nights of music (Friday and Saturday and open during the week for special and private events plus Sundays of long weekends) there’s definitely something for everyone. Want to be a part of the action but not one to storm a stage? Conveniently tucked away from the live music are seating areas available for a good pint over great conversation! The Revival recently celebrated its six-month anniversary – here is a story from CBC Saskatchewan highlighting its opening in September 2017.
Using “VENUE” as an acronym, what can you tell us about the Vibe, Energy, Nostalgia,Uniqueness and Entertainment at Revival?
V: Vibe
With a capacity of 225, our venue offers an up close and personal setting. While we do enjoy turning it up to 11 (like when Five Alarm Funk caused a sweaty ruckus to a full house on a Tuesday night in the middle of a snow storm), we’re also proud to showcase local singer-songwriters for intimate and interactive performances.
E: Energy
What makes The Revival Room stand out is that our venue is filled with a positive energy. We’re fortunate to be surrounded by a supportive and collaborative music community which helps add a welcoming and inviting atmosphere to the venue. The audience and artists engagement has been and remains very well received.
There are no barricades that separate the performer from the fan. Whether you’re a music lover or music maker, we’re all in this together.
N: New or Nostalgic
Originally built to resemble a traditional Irish pub (that even made its way into a Hollywood movie and several music videos) the nostalgia lies in our look and our story. McNally’s Tavern was a staple in the Regina live music scene. With the Nashville venue style in mind, it is now completely converted – the stage welcomes you right when you walk in and the music is exactly where it should be…front and center. Optimized for the best sight lines and built for the absolute best sound, our renovations were done with live music in mind.
U: Unique
What makes The Revival Music Room so memorable isn’t just our attention to detail but our character. Physically we fit advanced technology into an older space yet environmentally we employ and enlist the help of some of the absolute nicest and hardest working people around. Albeit cliché, everyone knows your name in our venue and we certainly wouldn’t have it any other way!
E: Entertainment
Maintaining some of our clientele from our previous inclination, we still seek bands who play the hits. Cover bands are and have always been a popular draw because sometimes you just want to leave your worries at the door and dance the night away to music you know and love.
Recognizing the immense talent that surrounds us locally we also pay a lot of attention to and seek to promote as many Saskatchewan artists and bands as we possibly can.
As popularity increases and word gets around so do our opportunities to welcome touring bands! We have been honoured to have notable bands (of several genres) such as Shred Kelly, Five Alarm Funk and The Raygun Cowboys pay us a visit. Most notably, Ed and Tyler from The Barenaked Ladies once swung on by to sing some Canadian classics with Regina razzle dazzle party band, FOGDOG.
We know it’s only rock and roll…but we like it!
